I admire the admin for hand coding this site and am very impressed by the functionality for having done it that way, but the honest truth is that aside from any arguments of who likes/dislikes the format, the code is outdated, full of security holes, and not optomized. It seems like greg and damon probably have other stuff going on in thier lives besides babysitting this forum and performing the constant updates it requires, so why not use a system supported by a third party developer and just adapt the format to suit.
IIRC this site isn't hosted at a server farm with a staff of technicians but rather from a remote PC at greg or damon's home. better software could probably bring down their cost for bandwidth and processing power through code optimization and caching and things of that nature. plus features of the site owuld probably just work more reliably rather than braking somehow and never getting fixed due to a lack of time from the admins.
